Major Martin enlisted in the Marine Corps in his sophomore year of college and went to Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego as a rising junior in May 2003. In October 2006, Major Martin attended Officer Candidate Course (OCC) in Quantico, VA and was commissioned a second lieutenant in December 2006. Major Martin's duty stations include Miramar, CA; Okinawa, Japan; Manama, Bahrain; Stuttgart, Germany; and now the United States Naval Academy. Major Martin deployed to Iraq in 2007 and has participated in military exercises throughout Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. At the United States Naval Academy, Major Martin teaches economics, Marine Corps Practicum, and serves as the Women’s Ice Hockey representative. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education in Organizational Development and Leadership from Vanderbilt University.
Major Martin holds a Master of Business Administration from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma Christian University. He lives in Annapolis, MD with his three children and wife of 16 years. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
