The Navy Men's Team rolled into the second half of the season with their eye on a bid to the National Tournament. However, a tough 4-3 loss to Drexel away at the Class of 1923 on Sat., Jan 21st sealed the fate for the Mids postseason. The game decided who would earn the Regular Season Champion Title and a bid to Nationals, but with a packed stadium and the momentum in their favor throughout the game, the Drexel Dragons earned the victory over Navy.

After a strong performance the following weekend, sweeping the University of Alabama at home, Navy looked to capture the Crab Pot Tourney at home and roll into the ECHA playoffs with more momentum.

Navy lost to Towson in the final, with John Linenger's lone goal in the 3rd not being enough to push the Mids past the 5 goal tally Towson managed in the first two periods.

The final weekend rolled around, the ECHA playoffs, and the Seniors were ready to prove to the league that although Navy had dealt with some adversity this season, they deserved the Nationals bid.

After rolling over Temple on Friday, the Mids went head-to-head with rival Towson to earn a spot in the Championship on Sunday. Towson came out fast and hard, tallying a few goals, but the Mids continued to battle hard, despite injuries and having played a game the night before. With just over 3 minutes left in the game, Navy found themselves down by 3 goals.  A late rally, showcasing Navy's relentlessness brought the score to one, but it proved to be too little, too late in the game. The final score was 5-4, Towson.

Although the ending to this season was disappointing in many ways for Navy and its fans, it truly showcased the character of this team. After losing one of our brothers mid-season, Jason Jablonski, Navy proved it could overcome this adversity and honor their fallen brother by leaving it all out on the ice every game.

Seniors Jack O'Hear and Matt Harrigan led this team through it all, finishing with 53 and 51 points respectively. Senior Goalie James O'Halloran put up some incredible performances throughout the season, Senior Miki Szabo played a strong role in the defensive corps, and Senior Steven Sabatini provided energy and depth to the Navy offense.

We wish these seniors the best as they head out to the Fleet! As always, their brother J will be watching over them on and off the ice.
