Navy Hockey visits the State of Hockey!

Navy Hockey made its first visit to the State of Hockey, travelling to Minnesota September 23rd-25th. This trip included two games against Minnesota club teams, The University of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota, at the Excel Energy Center and Mariucci Arena respectively.

The Midshipmen took the first game against St. Thomas 5-3 at the Excel, and had the chance to enjoy the atmosphere with hundreds of fans and a handful of alumni who came out to support Navy.

The second game featured a strong U of M performance, taking the game all the way past a 5 minute overtime period to a shootout. Navy goaltender Luke Markus made a strong save on the first shot. Matt Stamler scored on the third shot off a wrist shot to keep the Mids in contention. Unfortunately, Markus let up shots #2 and #3 resulting in a OT loss for Navy.

This trip also included a visit to Head Coach Mike Fox's alma mater, The Blake School, where the Midshipmen practiced and ran a clinic for a local veterans association and local hockey players.
