For the first time in program history, the Navy Midshipmen (28-4-1) are headed to the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I National Tourney, clinching the #15 seed in the country.

The Mids will face Rutgers University  (ranked #18) in the first round at The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville IL on March 1st.

Navy claimed their first bid to Nationals by virtue of their top 20 ranking and by becoming the regular season champions of the Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association.

Initially ranked #24 at the beginning of the season, the Midshipmen rose to as high as #11 in the coaches poll before settling into the #15 spot by the end of the regular season.

This news comes on the heals of winning a 3rd consecutive Crabpot Championship, the first time this has been accomplished by a Navy team in the 36 year history of the tournament.  On Saturday, Jan 9th, Navy defeated Towson University 4-0 to take this year's title.
