Annapolis, Md. All Naval Academy Varsity And Club Sports Outside Of The Navy-Air Force Football Game Have Been Cancelled Through Sunday By The Department Of Defense.

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—The Department of Defense has cancelled all Naval Academy varsity and club sports through Sunday as a result of the government shutdown.

While an exception was made for the Navy-Air Force Football game, Navy Hockey will be forced to postpone its scheduled contests with the United States Military Academy on Friday, 04-October-13 and Saturday, 05-October-13.

A refund or exchange policy is in the process of being determined for those fans who have already purchased tickets for the two game homestand. That policy will be broadcast to ticket holders once it is developed. We apologize for the inconvenience this interruption has caused.

“This is a huge blow to our program on so many levels,” said Navy Head Coach Michael Fox. “This is a loss physically, emotionally and financially,” reiterated Fox. A record crowd was expected to pack McMullen Ice Arena for Friday and Saturday’s games.

“The only thing under our control is that we have to get ready for next Friday’s game at the ACHA D1 Showcase against Mercyhurst,” said Ben Berkey, Navy’s Director of Hockey Operations. We are currently exploring all possibilities to reschedule the contests against Army.

Fans are encouraged to continue checking our website at www.navyhockey.net, our Twitter and Facebook Page for continuing updates on our operational status.
